The Suburban Arch property was taken from an auction in non-liveable circumstances, in the process of being developed into a family home consisting of two bedrooms, an extension of the living areas and the addition of a garden pavilion. The studio is designing the fit-out design development process for the project; featuring high-quality craftsmanship of the concrete cast kitchen counters.
The design appreciates the form of the suburban home but strips it back into multiple layers. Starting with the structure of the roof, the design takes the space to its limits by removing the ceiling and reaching a desirable full height.
Taking into consideration the traditional elements of the home, such as the “suburban arch”, this project works with the characteristics of the space by capping in the bold material of concrete and restoring the original and classic floorboards.
